Talks underway for Manchester City magician to extend his contract until 2020 – reports – City Watch
David Silva’s memorable stay at Manchester City could be extended by a year with both the Daily Mail and Goal revealing that the club have opened talks over a one-year contract extension.
The 31-year-old is currently under lock and key until 2019, but there is an impression that he can maintain a high level until at least his mid-30s, and adding a year on to his deal would keep him at the Etihad Stadium until the age of 34, at which point he would have spent a decade at City.
A potential successor for David Silva arrived this summer in the form of Bernardo Silva but it is clear that the World Cup winner still have plenty to offer and talks are now underway to prolong his Manchester City career.
A month ago, there were reports from Spain that Las Palmas, the club Silva aspires to end his career with, had taken steps towards signing Silva in 2019 when his present contract expires.
“My ultimate ambition to play for Las Palmas. People say I should go to Real Madrid or Barcelona, but my team is Las Palmas,” Silva said during an interview in 2015.
However, the Gran Canarian may have to wait an extra year to recruit the mercurial talents of David Silva with Man City in no hurry to let him go.
