“He's still the best right-back in the world.” – Former Barcelona star backs Dani Alves to succeed at City – City Watch

City Watch

Ex-Barcelona player Xavi has been speaking very highly of former team-mate Dani Alves amid a potential move to Manchester City in the very near future. Alves is set to sign a two-year deal with the Blues, linking up with former manager Pep Guardiola, after confirming that he had been released by Juventus on social media earlier this week.

At 34 years of age the Brazilian full-back is still very much playing at the highest level, starting in the Champions League final against Real Madrid at the beginning of the month, and Xavi has been quick to reaffirm this.

Speaking about Dani Alves, Xavi had this to say:

“Age is not everything. For me, he’s still the best right-back in the world. Barcelona missed him this season – and he’s just had an incredible season with Juventus. He is a good friend, I know how hard he works, I know how well he looks after himself. He’s in great condition and can play at the top level for some more years yet. You’re not just getting a great player – you’re also getting experience.”
