Super-agent Jorge Mendes offers Man City defender to Seville and AC Milan – report – City Watch
Eliaquim Mangala was included on the flight to the US for Manchester City’s pre-season tour but the likelihood is still that he’ll be playing elsewhere next season.
And after less than convincing claims from Turkey that he’ll be a Besiktas player within 48 hours, the more reliable Estadio Deportivo reports this evening that Gestifute, the agency owned by Mangala’s representative Jorge Mendes, has offered the 26-year-old to two clubs.
The first is AC Milan, who are spending heavily this summer and have previously been mentioned as a potential destination for Mangala. From Italy though, there has been little talk about that.
The other club is one Man City have been doing plenty of business with in recent years, Sevilla. Nolito has just joined them on a permanent deal, while Samir Nasri was loaned there a year ago. And now, Mendes has offered Mangala to the Andalusian club, where he could be a teammate of Nolito and potentially Jesus Navas, who still hasn’t joined his beloved club but is likely to.
Mangala could arrive either on loan or permanently and is an interesting option for new boss Eduardo Berizzo, particularly after having a good season in the same league at Valencia last season.
Sevilla sporting director Óscar Arias has been considering former Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber, but the La Liga club have doubts about him because of his poor injury record. So Arias has two options on the table, Mangala or Badstuber, and it could be the Manchester City centre-back who soon finds his way to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.
