Manchester City contacted Real Madrid for Danilo as part of right-back search – report – City Watch

Manchester City recently made an enquiry over the availablity of Real Madrid right-back Danilo, Sam Lee of Goal reports.

The 25-year-old Brazilian international has struggled to find regular game time at the Santiago Bernabéu since his €31.5 million move from FC Porto in 2015, with Dani Carvajal being the preferred first-choice player in the right-back position.

With Pep Guardiola wanting two right-backs, Manchester City were one of several Premier League sides to contact Real Madrid about Danilo’s availability, the idea being to bring both he and Kyle Walker in for a position that has been left vacant by the departures of Pablo Zabaleta, Bacary Sagna and makeshift right-back Jesus Navas.

However, City and other interested clubs were quickly informed that Danilo has no intention of quitting the Spanish giants at this point in time, as he is determined to fight for his spot at the European champions.

City scratched Danilo from their list of targets following this news, and if another right-back is to join along with Kyle Walker, his identity is being kept well concealed. With youngster Pablo Maffeo expected to return to Girona FC on loan, Pep is going to have to buy two right-backs or use a versatile player such as Fernandinho as the back-up in that position.
