Fabinho has been a revelation for the title-winning Monaco team who also sent City packing from this year’s Champions League, with the versatile Brazilian registering two assists in City’s 5-3 first-leg win, before scoring in the second-leg, a 3-1 win for Monaco that eliminated City for the competition.

Originally known as a right-back, Fabinho has played exclusively as a central midfielder for the principality side this season, scoring 8 goals from that position in Ligue 1.

In February, Fabinho’s father said to French TV show J+1, “We like Manchester United & Mourinho’s work, but we have a soft spot for Manchester City.”

Though Romero’s tweet is very brief, he is a well-known and respected source, who had early information on City’s deals for John Stones, Leroy Sané and Claudio Bravo last summer.
