Manchester City and Tottenham are both showing interest in signing FC Lorient and France youth international Mattéo Guendouzi, Sky Sports News reports.

The 18-year-old is a defensive midfielder and is currently playing in Ligue 2, France’s second division, for Lorient, who are well known for their youth development.

And his performances have been noted by City and Spurs scouts, leading to interest from both sides in signing him.

Formerly of the Paris Saint-Germain academy, Guendouzi moved to Lorient in 2014 and has worked his way into the first team, while also representing France across the age groups.

He made his debut for France’s under-20s in mid-November and found the net aged just 18 years, 6 months and 28 days.

His talent may see him head to the bright lights of the Premier League before too long. Tottenham view the teenager as a future replacement for Mousa Dembele, who is about to enter the final 18 months of his contract.
