Inter strike agreement with Man City defender, clubs disagree over formula of transfer – report – City Watch
Inter Milan are poised to sign Eliaquim Mangala before the transfer window closes provided they can agree a formula for the deal with Manchester City.
Famed Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia has backed up an exclusive report from TMW that Mangala has given his consent to join Inter, where he would replace Valencia-bound Jeison Murillo.
The problem for Inter is that while they want the 26-year-old on an initial loan deal, City prefer to sell and are hoping for an offer of that type before the end of August. Mangala has already turned down a permanent move to Russian champions Spartak Moscow this summer, one of the few clubs who have been willing to pay a fee and take on his salary.
Both Inter and Mangala are reportedly trying to convince City into agreeing a loan deal. Another well-known Italian journalist, Alfredo Pedulla of Sportitalia, believes Inter are confident of getting Mangala on a dry loan – meaning no option to buy.
It had seemed that the French international could have a second lease of life at City, but with fresh news that City are pushing to sign Jonny Evans from West Brom, that would push Mangala back down the pecking order and make him surplus to requirements. And Matt Hughes reports in today’s edition of The Times that Mangala has been told he can leave the club.
