From Italy: Chelsea could sign top Manchester City target Jorginho on Monday – City Watch

City Watch

Chelsea could today finally get their hands on Maurizio Sarri and more surprisingly Jorginho as part of a stunning double deal, Italy’s Corriere dello Sport claims.

There have been whispers of Chelsea potentially hijacking Manchester City’s pursuit of Jorginho in recent days, and today’s story from Italy claims that the London club will pay more than City had agreed to pay Napoli for the 26-year-old.

This would unlock Chelsea’s own drawn-out negotiations with the Italians to land Sarri, who has been relieved of his duties at Napoli and replaced by Carlo Ancelotti, but is still under contract with Aurelio De Laurentiis demanding hefty compensation.

Besides Alfredo Pedulla of Sportitalia, few others in Italy are reporting on the possibility of Jorginho to Chelsea so strongly, which should give City fans some hope that this is another rumour in a summer of conflicting and misleading information on the Brazil-born Italian. Also, Corriere dello Sport is not considered to be one of Italy’s most reliable sources.

Should Jorginho in fact head to Chelsea instead of Manchester City, the Blues could turn their attention to Real Madrid’s Mateo Kovačić, who was recently reported to be the top alternative target.
