Eliaquim Mangala set for Lyon medical after club owner confirms talks – City Watch
It turns out that Eliaquim Mangala was not in Lyon on a sightseeing trip earlier today after he was spotted in the French city.
Lyon owner Jean-Michel Aulas tonight confirmed the club held talks with Mangala today, but was quick to stress that no deal had been struck after the Manchester Evening News reported that a deal worth up to £18 million could be done in the next 24 hours.
However, Nice Matin journalist Vivien Seiller has this evening revealed that the 26-year-old Manchester City defender is scheduled to undergo his Lyon medical tomorrow and complete his sudden move to the Ligue 1 side.

If it does turn out to be an £18 million deal it would represent a huge loss for City, who invested a total of £42 million in Mangala in 2014. But given he has been a complete disappointment and with his high salary, it would not be a bad return and would add more funds to Pep Guardiola’s transfer kitty, which has already been bolstered by the £12 million sale of Enes Ünal to Villarreal. Australian international Aaron Mooy will also complete his £10 million move to Huddersfield Town once he returns from international duty with the Socceroos.
