Di Marzio: Torino contact Manchester City for defender on loan with an option to buy – City Watch
Torino have joined the race for Manchester City defender Jason Denayer who is expected to be one of the last players to exit the club this summer.
Denayer, 23, is not short of interest but reports from Turkey have claimed all summer long that he has rejected offers from the likes of Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United to secure a return to Galatasaray.
Galatasaray would prefer the 8-cap Belgium international to join on a THIRD loan deal or at least at a discounted price, with City placing a €10million (£9million) price-tag on the versatile defender.
And Torino, who have done business with City in recent years by taking Joe Hart on loan in the 2016-17 season, have asked the Premier League champions for Denayer on loan with an option to purchase him next year.
Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia reports that Umberto Cairo’s club are now waiting for a reply from City and are hopeful of landing him on loan.
Denayer, who has also had loan spells at Celtic and Sunderland, featured on City’s pre-season tour of the United States but played no part in last weekend’s Community Shield and isn’t part of Pep Guardiola’s plans.
