Crystal Palace join West Ham in the race for Manchester City right-back Bacary Sagna – City Watch
Bacary Sagna will have no shortage of suitors when his Manchester City deal expires at the end of June. Despite being 34 now, the French international is still in good physical condition but looks set to be part of Pep Guardiola’s summer overhaul.
And according to the print version of the Daily Mirror, Crystal Palace have joined fellow London club West Ham in pursuing Sagna, who has spent a decade in England’s top flight.
Sagna is reported to have a contract offer from West Ham, who it is also reported want City’s other full-back, Pablo Zabaleta, but Sam Allardyce, known for his ability to get the best out of veterans, would like to add the experienced full-back to his Palace side.
It remains to be seen if Guardiola will allow both Sagna and Zabaleta to leave City when their contracts run out, or if he will tell the board to offer one of them a new deal. Right-backs linked with a move to the Etihad in recent months include Benjamin Henrichs (Bayer Leverkusen), Cédric Soares (Southampton) and Dani Alves (Juventus). Pablo Maffeo, 19, is an in-house option currently on loan at Girona FC in Spain.
