Manuel Pellegrini has hinted that he could look to his former clubs for new recruits at Hebei China Fortune, the Chinese Super League club he is in charge of.

The 63-year-old, who won the Premier League and League Cup during his three-year tenure as Manchester City boss, said he would look to former players when considering how to strengthen Hebei. His side sit 5th in the Chinese Super League, just 4 points behind Guangzhou Evergrande, who are coached by fellow veteran Luiz Felipe Scolari.

“There are players who I have worked with in the past that am looking at. For now we are not close to signing any players, but in the coming days we could be involved in some transfers,” Pellegrini is quoted as telling the Chinese media.

“I won’t mention names of the players I have contacted over a possible move in the summer, as a mark of respect for their current clubs. But we will do some business in the summer.”

Pellegrini’s comments hint that some of his former City players could be under consideration, possibly including those soon to be out of contract. Yaya Touré is a known favourite of Pellegrini, but is said to have resisted the wealth of China in favour of a Premier League stay, hoping to spend another two seasons in English football.
