Winger set to reject Manchester City, Liverpool and Newcastle interest to join Lille – report – City Watch
One day after being linked with a move to Manchester City, highly-rated Ivory Coast winger Nicolas Pépé has decided to join Lille, according to France Football.
Yesterday, L’Equipe said City had made a late entry in the race for the 20-year-old with their plan being to loan him to Girona FC in Spain, where he would develop further after Pablo Machín’s side won promotion to La Liga.
Liverpool, Lyon, Newcastle and Watford have also been listed as interested parties, with Newcastle and Watford said to have made firm offers.
But it will be Marcelo Bielsa’s Lille where Pépé continues his career, with France Football reporting that they have agreed a €12 million (£10.5 million) fee with his club Angers and he is set for a medical ahead of signing a five-year deal at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
