Tuttosport: Chelsea’s interference in Jorginho deal could lead Man City to Juventus star – City Watch

Chelsea are exploring the possibility of signing leading Manchester City target Jorginho in a stunning double deal with coach Maurizio Sarri from Napoli, according to more and more reports emerging from Italy.

Should the London side manage to pull this off, it will leave City needing another midfielder, with Mateo Kovačić of Real Madrid and Southampton’s Mario Lemina named as two potential targets in recent weeks.

Another name the Turin-based Tuttosport has pushed is that of Bosnian star Miralem Pjanić. That newspaper reported in June that Juventus had rejected a €50million bid for 28-year-old Pjanić from City, leading to them going full-on for Jorginho.

And today, Tuttosport says City have been ‘befuddled’ by Chelsea’s interference in the Jorginho deal and that could lead to a new attempt for Pjanić.

Guardiola wants a ‘director’ for his midfield and Pjanić has excellent passing ability, much like Jorginho, and a wealth of experience. Barcelona are also keen on the former Roma man, who would cost well in excess of €50million.

With the Old Lady close to pulling off the transfer of the summer and signing Cristiano Ronaldo, they may be tempted to raise funds by selling one or two valuable stars, including Pjanić. This could give Pep Guardiola an ideal alternative if Chelsea succeed and hijack Jorginho…
