Riyad Mahrez set for Manchester City medical ahead of £60m move from Leicester – report – City Watch

Riyad Mahrez will finally become a Manchester City player this week after talks concluded successfully with Leicester City over a £60million deal, the Daily Mail reports.

Algerian winger Mahrez will undergo a medical within the next 48 hours, it is claimed, bringing to an end a transfer saga that began in January when a deal collapsed on transfer deadline day.

The 27-year-old has been desperate to link up with Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium and is set to get his wish. Mahrez’s arrival will add another option to a top-heavy City squad that features the likes of Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sané and Bernardo Silva.

Should the amount be confirmed as £60million, it will be a new club-record fee, breaking the £57million set by Aymeric Laporte in January.

Patrick Roberts is poised to head the other way in a separate £10million transfer, essentially making the whole deal for Mahrez a £50million-plus-Roberts transaction.
