Socceroo sensation Daniel Arzani comments on future amid Manchester City links – City Watch

Daniel Arzani is the rising star of Australian football and in the eyes of many experts, the best prospect the country has seen since Harry Kewell.

The Melbourne City winger is being linked with a move to sister club Manchester City, who would then send him on loan to a club such as NAC Breda to continue his development.

However, the Premier League champions are not alone in their interest, with more and more clubs stepping forward after the 19-year-old’s increased exposure at the World Cup.

Juventus, Bayer Levekusen, Mainz, Benfica and PSV Eindhoven are just a sample of the clubs either interested or ready to make an offer for Iran-born Arzani, who is expected to be sold for an A-League record $2.3million (€1.5million) fee.

This gives Arzani a big decision to make – stay within the City Football Group and entrust them with his development or choose one the many other options he has.

After Australia’s defeat to Peru yesterday, their final game of the World Cup in Russia, the youngster was asked about his future and revealed his immediate plans.

“I do not know what happens,” Arzani said in the mixed zone. “Now I will go straight to London and meet my agent and spend a few days there trying to clear everything.

“Nothing concrete yet. You know as much as I probably…”

Arzani is one of five prodigious teenagers who could move to the Etihad Stadium this summer, but the competition for his signature promises to be intense.
