Ambitious Ligue 1 outfit Nice have emerged as a surprise frontrunner to sign Samir Nasri from Manchester City, the Daily Mail reports.

Despite reminding Pep Guardiola of his talents during the pre-season tour of America, 30-year-old Nasri remains on the market and it is reported that the club hope to sell him for as little as £10million.

And after links to Roma recently, it could be a return to Ligue 1 after almost a decade away that is on the cards for Nasri, with Nice said to be interested in snapping him up.

Lucien Favre’s side finished third in the French top flight last year and have a reputation for rehabilitating ‘bad boys’ with City cult hero Mario Balotelli playing his football at the Allianz Riviera nowadays.

Nasri, who has been difficult to sell because he is one of City’s top earners, could soon reunite with Mario in Ligue 1 if the French club can strike a deal with City.

Has Nasri made the most of his career? Joe Hulbert believes the ‘Petit Prince’ could have been so much more at Manchester City, despite his collection of medals.
