Referee appointed for Arsenal vs. Manchester City (Premier League, 1/3/2018) – City Watch

City Watch

We know by now that Craig Pawson has been controversially appointed to officiate this weekend’s Carabao Cup final between Manchester City and Arsenal.

However, there’s also a league game days later, on Thursday 1 March, between the two Premier League giants at the Emirates.

And it will be Andre Marriner in charge that night, with the 47-year-old having been announced as the main match official today.

This will be Marriner’s third City appointment of the season, and like the previous two it will be for an away fixture. The first was the narrow 1-0 win over Newcastle in December, but he was also in charge for City’s only Premier League defeat of the season, the 4-3 loss to Liverpool at Anfield.

As for Arsenal, Marriner has overseen two games and both of them were defeats for the Gunners – a shock 1-0 loss to Stoke all the way back in August and the 3-1 home defeat to Manchester United early in December.
