Real Madrid plot surprise move for Man City defender after impressive loan spell – report – City Watch

City Watch

Conrado Valle, a well-known Spanish journalist who writes for AS and other publications in Spain, recently told Radyospor that “transfer offers are arriving” for Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala.

Valle did not name any clubs, but the 26-year-old has been one of the better players for Valencia in La Liga, where he has spent the season on loan, and Manchester City have put him up for sale.

In what seems to be quite a speculative story, the Daily Star Sunday is running an exclusive that Real Madrid are in for the French international.

Mangala impressed against Real Madrid recently as Valencia fell 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu, and Real Madrid are thought to be considering new defensive recruits – but will they really move for Mangala?

The claim from the Daily Star is that Real Madrid have had Mangala watched several times recently and having seen evidence that he is a good defender in Spanish football, could add him to their star-filled squad in the summer.

This is a transfer rumour to treat with scepticism, but it would be quite a turnaround for Mangala were he to end up at the reigning Champions League holders and one of this year’s finalists.
