Ederson to undergo Manchester City medical and complete £34.9m move this week – report

We’ve had reports that he is ‘practically’ a Manchester City player, we’ve seen him wave to the fans and say he thinks he’s played his last Benfica game… and now come reports from Portugal that Benfica goalkeeper Ederson Moraes will undergo his Man City medical this week ahead of signing a long-term deal.

Bruno Andrade, who works for O Jogo and Goal, is reporting this evening that the 23-year-old will become a City player this week.

The journalist also reports that despite having a €60 million release clause, City and Benfica are discussing a fee in the region of €40 million (£34.9 million) for Ederson.

Sky Sports have joined the party, claiming that City could pay £45 million for the talented goalkeeper, which would be a world record for a player of that position.

Speaking after tonight’s Taça de Portugal win, Benfica coach praised Ederson and said, “If Ederson leaves, he leaves with the gratitude of Benfica. He will always carry Benfica’s name everywhere.”

It now appears to be only a matter of time…
