Nolito: I want to leave Manchester City and return to Spain – City Watch
Life started so well for Spain international winger Nolito after his move to Manchester City a year ago, with six goals and two assists in his first ten games, including a brace against Stoke City on the road.
The 30-year-old seemed to adjust easily to English football, but as 2017 arrived he mysteriously began to vanish from Pep Guardiola’s side, barely featuring in the second half of the season.
Nolito was recently linked with a move to Real Betis, some reports going as far as to say talks were advanced. Those stories have died down lately, but speaking to Cadena COPE in Spain today, the Spaniard made it clear he wants out of Man City.
“I’m crazy about returning (to Spain), but it depends on City. They (City) keep signing players, let’s see if they’ll let me leave easily. I have several teams I’d prefer to join.”
It appears that there is no way back for Nolito at City and a move home to Spain, whether permanent or a loan switch, is almost certain to happen this summer, with the player keen to try and work his way back into the Spain squad ahead of the 2018 World Cup.
