Monaco tell Manchester City their price for Benjamin Mendy with talks ‘well advanced’ – report – City Watch

As reported by L’Equipe today, Monaco rejected a €45million bid from Manchester City for left-back Benjamin Mendy yesterday, a day after turning down a €40million bid.

So, how much does the principality club want to sell their star full-back? According to an exclusive report by le10sport in France today, Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has told the Premier League club to cough up €55million (£48.2million) in order to finally close a deal.

Negotiations between the two sides, who already did business this summer when Bernardo Silva swapped clubs, are said to be ‘well advanced’, but nothing has been signed yet with an agreement on a fee still missing.

The player himself has already given the green light for this transfer to go ahead, and has verbally agreed a five-year contract with Manchester City.

Now the two clubs just have to find a compromise on a fee, with Monaco determined to get top dollar for any player from their excellent 2016-17 Ligue 1 winning side that they agree to sell. And it seems to be just a matter of time before Mendy is next to depart the Stade Louis II.

Once the deal is complete, Pep Guardiola will have both of his priority full-back targets in place after Kyle Walker completed his move from Tottenham earlier today for an initial fee of £45million. It will cost the Blues close to £100million for Walker and Mendy, but weaknesses in the left and right-back positions have proven costly lately, and it may be money well spent in the long run.
