Marseille offer departing Manchester City star a two-year deal worth €75,000-a-week – City Watch
A decade since he departed France for North London, 34-year-old Bacary Sagna could be heading home this summer following his recent exit from Manchester City.
The experienced right-back was one of five veterans announced to be leaving the Etihad at the end of the season, and despite his advancing years as a footballer is still in high demand.
It was recently reported that a proposal had arrived from Ligue 1 side Marseille for Sagna’s services, and today France Football has confirmed that the southern French club have offered him a two-year contract.
Sagna will be paid €75,000-a-week before tax if he chooses to accept the offer from sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta, and of course no transfer fee will be paid with his Man City deal officially expiring on June 30.
The former Auxerre man has other options too, with there thought to be Premier League interest, but Marseille’s ambitious project could convince him to end a ten year stay in England and return home to France.
