Marseille hold talks with Manchester City forward Wilfried Bony over potential move – City Watch
Wilfried Bony could be heading to France this summer, with Marseille following Lille in registering their interest in the Manchester City forward.
According to both L’Equipe and France Football on Monday, Marseille sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has spoken directly to the 28-year-old in recent days about his current situation and the conditions for a transfer.
Bony is not Marseille’s main priority, with AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca and Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud higher on their list, but the two would cost more than Bony, who City are willing to sell for €15million (£13.3million). Bony also has a slightly smaller salary than Bacca, making him an affordable ‘Plan B’ option that Marseille may consider.
Stylistically, Bony also meets the requirements of Marseille boss Rudi Garcia, as a powerful and strong player able to function in a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2.
Turkish giants Fenerbahçe are also tracking Bony, as are several Chinese clubs. Despite a disappointing spell at Man City and poor loan stint at Stoke City last season, the Ivorian still has his admirers and will be on the move this summer.
