Manchester City youngster eager for La Liga loan move, no problems expected between clubs – City Watch
Pablo Maffeo is eager to return to Girona FC for another loan term after spending the latter half of the 2016-17 season at the Catalan club on loan from Manchester City.
The 19-year-old right-back became a regular in Pablo Machín’s team and helped them win promotion to Spain’s top flight. And their status as a La Liga team means the youngster is excited about a return and facing the likes of Neymar, Messi and Ronaldo.
According to AS, there should be no issues in a renewed loan deal being sorted out because of the collaboration agreement that exists between Man City and Girona.
Along with Maffeo, midfielder Aleix García is also rumoured to be on his way to the Estadi Montilivi with the cooperation between the sides likely to increase now that Girona are playing at a higher level.
Maffeo, Angeliño, Rubén Sobrino, Florian Lejeune and Pablo Marí have all been loaned to Girona from City at different points and more are expected to follow. Maffeo’s return would allow him to continue his development by playing in one of Europe’s best leagues, possibly leading to a spot in Pep Guardiola’s City squad in years to come.
