Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts still wanted by Leicester despite transfer delay – report – City Watch

Leicester City are still keen to sign Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts despite a slowdown in negotiations between the two clubs, according to the Daily Mail.

The Foxes have been keen on Roberts, 21, since January when they first requested him as part of a deal for Riyad Mahrez. Despite reports that he could be involved in a renewed deal for Mahrez, Mahrez joined in a cash-only £60million transfer.

That could have given the impression that Leicester had gone cold on Roberts, but that they are reportedly still interested in signing the youngster in a separate deal.

Discussions are ongoing for Roberts, who could leave the Etihad Stadium for around £10million, but his presence on the tour of the US has slowed things down.

Roberts was given a 20-minute run out by Pep Guardiola in yesterday’s friendly defeat to Borussia Dortmund in Chicago, but with Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sané, Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez, and even Brahim Diaz as wide options for the City boss, his chances of regular game time are slim.

Signed from Fulham in 2015, the England youth international has spent more time at Celtic than City, enjoying two and a half seasons in Glasgow and winning seven trophies, including the Scottish Premiership three times. He has made three competitive appearances for City, all coming in the 2015-16 season under Manuel Pellegrini.
