Manchester City, Tottenham and PSG right-back transfer saga begins to develop – report – City Watch
The futures of right-backs Kyle Walker and Serge Aurier are becoming increasingly entwined according to a report from French source RMC Sport.
It has been reported by a number of sources recently that Aurier, 24, is on Manchester City’s radar with the Ivorian still yet to extend his deal which runs out in 2019. PSG are trying to convince him to stay and there will be meetings in the coming days, but interest from England gives him options.
And it is the Premier League interest that leads to this intriguing situation. City see Aurier as a potential alternative to Kyle Walker if Spurs price him out of a move to the Etihad, but RMC Sport reports that the North London club see Aurier as the perfect replacement should Walker eventually move to City.
This creates a situation where Aurier’s next club, should he in fact decide to leave the French capital, could depend on what happens with Kyle Walker. There is also one other, less likely possibility, where City, who are in the market for two right-backs and two left-backs this summer, try to sign both Walker and Aurier.
It was reported by the Mirror yesterday that Spurs have bumped Walker’s price-tag to over £60 million which, if true, may be enough to force City into looking elsewhere. And there is mounting evidence that it could be the controversial Aurier who is the second choice on Pep Guardiola’s list of right-back targets this summer.
