Manchester City to move for Bayern Munich star should they miss out on Alexis Sanchez – City Watch

City Watch

Manchester City are still in the market for another forward player after the £43million capture of Bernardo Silva from Monaco earlier this summer. City’s performances in front of goal were evidently frustrating for Guardiola over the course of the season with many press conferences discussing what could have been.

Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez – who only has a year left on his contract – is reportedly the Catalan’s preferred option as he is well aware of the Chilean’s talents having managed him during the 2011-12 season at Barcelona. However Arsene Wenger, who has recently signed a new two year deal with the London club, has made it clear that he is very reluctant to sell the winger to a Premier League rival. With Bayern Munich also heavily linked for his services, it may prove to be too difficult for the Blues to get their man.

Should Sanchez opt against a move to Manchester then Brazilian winger Douglas Costa has emerged as a possible alternative according to The Times. Having also previously managed Costa at Bayern Munich he is well aware of what he could offer to the club, providing some much needed options up front for the Blues to be able to challenge for all four trophies. If Bayern were to sign Sanchez then perhaps they would be less reluctant to let another of their wingers to leave the club, especially if City were willing to pay handsomely for him.
