Manchester City ready to offer defender in deal for Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez – report – City Watch

Manchester City could be willing to sacrifice one of their highly-rated young talents in order to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal this summer.

According to Martin Blackburn of The Sun, Belgium international Jason Denayer, a player previously linked with a move to the Gunners, could be offered in a cash-plus-player deal for Alexis.

City lead the race for 28-year-old Sanchez but Arsene Wenger doesn’t want to sell him, especially to a domestic rival, and the inclusion of Denayer could help facilitate a deal, with Guardiola aware of Wenger’s past interest in the young defender.

Denayer, 21, has spent the season on loan at relegated Sunderland, often playing in midfield for David Moyes’ side, and Guardiola would prefer not to sell him, but is willing to sacrifice him if it means a reunion with his former charge.

Pep and Alexis worked together at FC Barcelona, with the Chilean snubbing Manchester City in 2011 for a move to the Camp Nou. And there is growing evidence that the Arsenal star is Guardiola’s number one target to upgrade his strikeforce in the summer.
