Manchester City to make ultimate bid of £30m for Jonny Evans on Tuesday – report – City Watch

Manchester City will meet West Brom’s £30million valuation of captain Jonny Evans tomorrow and try to seal a deal for the ex-Manchester United defender, the Telegraph reports.

City had an initial bid of £18million knocked back by the Baggies for the 29-year-old, who will prove to be far costlier than Pep Guardiola was anticipating.

And the return of Leicester to the race means there is competition for Evans’ signature, despite their £21million bid for the defender being rejected today.

John Percy of the Telegraph states that Leicester’s owners would have no problem backing a rival bid of £30million for Evans, but City are the favourites to sign him thanks to the lure of Champions League football.

Tomorrow could be the decisive day in this unexpected saga, with City poised to make their ultimate bid for Jonny Evans. Not something any City supporter would have expected to read a few months ago.
