Manchester City sign Brazil U20 midfielder Douglas from Vasco for €12m – reports – City Watch
Manchester City have agreed a deal with Brazilian side Vasco to sign one of Brazil’s most exciting young talents, Douglas Luiz.
Multiple sources in Brazil, including Globo Esporte and ESPN are reporting that Vasco sold the 19-year-old midfielder to City on Tuesday for a fee believed to be worth €12million (£10.7million), which could rise to as much as €16million (£14.3million) if certain goals are met during his stay in Manchester.
Douglas will not immediately join the City squad and is expected to be loaned out, quite possibly to partner club Girona FC, who will play in La Liga next season.
The Brazil under-20 international has been scouted by Manchester City since last year and recently a scout watched him play against Atlético GO.
Douglas did not travel with the Vasco squad to Salvador, where they face Vitória on Thursday, and the CBF have already confirmed that his Vasco contract has been terminated without specifying his destination.
