Manchester City set to sign Barcelona’s ‘brightest prospect’ on three year deal – reports – City Watch
Reports from Spain today suggest that Manchester City are set to swoop in and sign one of Barcelona’s brightest prospects this summer when his contract expires at the club.
SPORT report that the representatives of 16-year-old Eric Garcia have informed Barcelona that he will not be agreeing a new deal with the club and that he will instead move to England.
According to the report, the news of Garcia’s departure hasn’t gone down well at Barcelona, who believed the young centre-back was one of their top talents in the academy, recognised for his strong leadership and ability to play out from the back – something that is sure to impress Pep Guardiola.
Garcia will join the club on a three-year deal which will see him earn around €1 million – a real statement from Manchester City who are continuing their pursuit to tie down the brightest prospects in the world.
Of course, Manchester City have been given a transfer ban on signing academy players, however the ban only stands within England and the club are free to sign young players from abroad.
