Manchester City rival Benfica and Club Brugge for Macedonia midfielder – report – City Watch

Manchester City are one of three clubs considering an approach for highly-rated Macedonia international, Elif Elmas, according to a report by Belgian newspaper HLN.

Despite being just 17 years of age, Elmas, an attacking midfielder, has already been capped by Macedonia at senior level, appearing against Spain in a World Cup qualifier last month.

And his talents have not gone unnoticed, with Manchester City, Benfica and Club Brugge all considering making offers to his club side FK Rabotnički.

Described as ‘by far the most talented playmaker in Macedonia’ by HLN, Elmas is expected to take the next big step of his career this summer with a transfer. His options are varied, with Club Brugge able to offer him instant first team football, something that could take a while at Benfica and even longer at Manchester City.

Were City to sign Elmas, the most likely course of action would either be a place in the under-23 side or a loan to one of the growing number of City Football Group affiliate clubs.
