Manchester City receive six bids for £10m-rated midfielder with future set to be decided – City Watch

Manchester City are having bids thrown at them for a player who hasn’t even made a first-team appearance since joining a year ago, Socceroo midfielder Aaron Mooy.

The Australian signed from partner club Melbourne City last summer with Manchester City offering him a route into European football by immediately loaning him to Championship side Huddersfield Town. And few could have predicted just how good he would be, with the 26-year-old recently named in the EFL Team of the Season.

City turned down a significant bid for Mooy in the January transfer window, and after continuing to impress in West Yorkshire, the number of suitors has increased.

According to an exclusive report from SBS, Newcastle, Crystal Palace, and at least one other Premier League club have lodged bids for Mooy. Further offers have arrived from Championship clubs Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Derby County. Surprisingly, Huddersfield have yet to register their interest in keeping the Aussie around, despite him being their best player this campaign.

City are unlikely to sell Mooy for anything less than £10 million, which would be quite the profit on a player who cost next to nothing just a year ago. There is also the option of Manchester City keeping him, given his home-grown status and shortage of deeper-lying midfielders.

Mooy’s agent Paddy Dominguez is on his way to England to “discuss the options for next season”, and should Mooy help Huddersfield to promotion via the Championship play-offs, his value could skyrocket even more.
