Oleksandr Zinchenko snubs £16m move to Wolves despite medical plans – report – City Watch

Manchester City look set to keep hold of Ukrainian youngster Oleksandr Zinchenko this season after he snubbed a £16million transfer to Wolves this morning.

The 21-year-old had been due at the Wolves training complex, Compton Park, this morning to finalise personal terms and undergo a medical, but reliable Wolves journalists Tim Nash and Tim Spiers both report that Zinchenko has rejected the move.

Hearing the Zinchenko deal is OFF as the player has turned down the chance to join @Wolves, according to sources in Manchester. A £16m fee had been agreed several weeks ago and a medical had been arranged at Compton this morning.

Although it doesn’t completely rule out a move away, with foreign transfer windows remaining open after today, it does seem likely after this development that Zinchenko will remain part of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City squad this coming season.

Wolves had been prepared to make Zinchenko their club-record signing when a £16million fee was agreed last month, though have since paid £18million to recruit Adama Traore from Middlesbrough. Fulham and Newcastle have also shown interest in the versatile midfielder/defender.
