Manchester City new boy Yangel Herrera set for loan switch in the next week – City Watch

Manchester City’s January deadline day signing Yangel Herrera is set to continue his development at partner club New York City FC under the tutelage of Patrick Vieira.

Signed from Atlético Venezuela for a fee of around £1.7 million before the close of the winter transfer window, Herrera is an unknown to most City fans, but comes very highly rated and impressed at the 2017 South American Youth Football Championship.

There was confusion as to whether Manchester City or the City Football Group had signed Herrera, but with third-party ownership now banned and his former club stating he had joined Manchester City, he seems to be registered with the Premier League club.

A work permit for the 19-year-old would be near impossible at this stage, as he has just the one cap for Venezuela’s senior national team, so his immediate future will be with NYCFC.

Speaking to Conexión Goleadora, Herrera said that he will remain in Venezuela for the next five days while they sort out the paperwork of his move, before heading to New York to continue his football career.
