Manchester City miss out on another target as Roma agree €13m deal for winger – City Watch
While it isn’t a Dani Alves-sized disappointment, Manchester City have reportedly been pipped to another transfer target with Roma agreeing a deal to sign Turkish wonderkid Cengiz Ünder from Başakşehir.
The Turkish Süper Lig side publicly confirmed last week that a four-hour meeting had been held with a delegate from Manchester, and it was later confirmed that they had rejected a proposal of €8million (£7million) plus a 20 per cent sell-on clause.
And now, famed talent-spotter Monchi has swooped in with Roma agreeing to pay €13million (£11.6million) to sign the youngster, who has scored two goals in four appearances for the Turkey national team.
Ünder, who has been dubbed ‘The Turkish Dybala’, will earn €1.5million per season over a five-year deal at the Stadio Olimpico.
There are reports in Turkey that City have a second round of talks scheduled for the player, but the news from Di Marzio is that Roma have him in the bag.
Roma are also close to reuniting two former Manchester City teammates with a deal in the works to sign Matija Nastasić from Schalke, and he will once again play on the same team as Edin Džeko should the deal go through.
