Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough has agreed a deal with Manchester City to sign highly-rated midfielder Jacob Davenport on loan for the rest of the season.
Davenport, 19, was City’s U18s Player of the Year in 2016 and Pep Guardiola is thought to be a big admirer of his talents.
This will be the former England under-18 international’s first foray into the senior game, and while many head to the third tier to start, Jacob is joining a Championship side.
Burton are rock bottom of England’s second tier but only 3 points separates them in 24th spot from Barnsley in 19th so there is everything to play for, and Davenport will hope to get game time at the Pirelli Stadium.
