Leicester attempt to hijack Manchester City move for Jonny Evans with £21m bid – reports – City Watch

Leicester City have made a late move to hijack Manchester City’s move for West Brom centre-back Jonny Evans with a £21million bid, John Percy of the Telegraph reports.

Craig Shakespeare is after a left-sided central defender and has been given money to spend on one by Foxes chiefs, but West Brom had described the offer for Evans as ‘derisory’ and rejected it without any hesitation.

The Baggies value former United man Evans at over £30million and already turned down an offer of £18million from City for the 29-year-old, determined to receive their full valuation.

Percy states that City are expected to make a new offer for Evans in the next 48 hours, which could reach West Brom’s asking price and deliver Pep Guardiola the home-grown centre-back he has been searching for.
