Jadon Sancho refusing to train at Man City as he tries to force Arsenal or Tottenham move – report – City Watch

City Watch

Manchester City’s issues with promising academy player Jadon Sancho are turning ugly, with Jack Pitt-Brooke of The Independent reporting that the 17-year-old is now refusing to train as he attempts to force a move away.

Sancho has been persistently linked with a move away from the Etihad in recent months and speculation intensified when he was not named in Pep Guardiola’s squad for the pre-season tour of the US, unlike several other young talents such as Brahim Diaz and Phil Foden.

And Sancho hasn’t turned up for training in the past week, traveling to London with no intention of returning to City. He has a year remaining on his existing deal but wants to leave now, with Arsenal and Tottenham the favourites to take him back to London. Manchester United are said to have an interest, but given there have been claims of homesickness, may be less realistic than the North London giants. There is also interest from Germany in the form of Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.

City refused to include Sancho as part of their deal for Kyle Walker last month, and if they are to lose him now to Spurs or Arsenal would be due a compensation fee of close to £4million.

Despite his questionable behaviour, City are still hopeful that they can agree a new deal with Sancho and offer him a pathway to the first team, something that has been a major concern for him as he has refused to pen a £30,000-a-week deal.

But in light of what has happened, it appears that the Blues are going to lose the teenager, who they have had such high hopes for since recruiting him from Watford in 2015.
