Juventus approach Roma for left-back as Manchester City apply pressure for Alex Sandro – City Watch

City Watch

Manchester City have identified Juventus left-back Alex Sandro as one of their primary targets for Pep Guardiola’s summer overhaul and are ready to offer €50 million (£41.2 million) to get their man.

At the Juventus Stadium, there is no desire to sell big names but the Serie A champions are a pragmatic club who have shown in the past that they know how to reinvest funds and build a squad when a big name leaves. The team is better now than before the Turin-based club sold Paul Pogba to Manchester United for a world record fee.

Recently, it was suggested that Atlético Madrid right-back Filipe Luís was in their crosshairs as a potential replacement for Sandro, but Goal Italia have other news.

Their information is that Juventus have already touched base with rivals AS Roma about a deal for 23-year-old left-back Emerson Palmieri and are ready to pay €25 million to sign him. Brazilian-born Emerson also has Italian citizenship, which makes him even more appealing for Juve as an ideal Alex Sandro heir.

The signs are clear that Manchester City are serious in their pursuit of Alex Sandro, and while nothing is for sure, Juventus are already planning for life after him.

Txiki Begiristain watched the 26-year-old in action for Juventus against Monaco on Tuesday night, with Goal Italia also reporting that he had his eyes on Dani Alves, another Juventus full-back Pep likes. 34-year-old Alves, previously linked with a move to City, was outstanding and continues to defy his age with top-class performances.
