Xabi Alonso is preparing for his last game as a professional footballer against SC Freiburg tomorrow. The former Liverpool and Real Madrid player moved to Bayern Munich in 2015, brought in by then boss Pep Guardiola. Since then, the Spaniard has played 78 games for the Bundesliga giants.

Xabi Alonso is well loved by every clubs that he has played at during his career, especially the last three of Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, his presence in midfield will surely be missed.

However, when his time is up, Pep Guardiola believes it will be six months before Xabi Alonso wants to return to football in a coaching capacity, and when that time is here, Pep Guardiola will be waiting in the dugout alongside fellow countryman Mikel Arteta.

In his farewell message to Xabi Alonso, Pep Guardiola said: “I bet in 6 months you will be desperate to start preparing for life as a coach. I’ll be waiting for you in the dugout.”
