From Chile: Alexis Sanchez tells Arsenal that he wants to join Manchester City – City Watch
Alexis Sanchez has told Arsenal that he wants to quit the club and join Manchester City this summer, Chilean newspaper El Mercurio reports.
According to the story, Alexis has made it clear to Arsenal chiefs that he wants to go this summer and Manchester City have already made several offers.
Alexis has no desire to stay one more year and see out his contract, with his preference being to swap the Emirates for the Etihad next season and reunite with Pep Guardiola.
The 28-year-old has put off a host of clubs including Bayern Munich by demanding wages of up to £350,000-a-week, leaving Arsenal’s Premier League rivals City as the only team who have a realistic chance of signing him.
Arsene Wenger has been adamant that he does not wish to sell to a domestic rival, but Arsenal may now have to make a decision: sell Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City for as much as £50million or keep a potentially unhappy player for the last 12 months of his deal then lose him for free.
