Fenerbahçe reject £4.5m bid from Man City for youngster, Arsenal and Spurs also keen – reports – City Watch

Manchester City have had a £4.5million bid for Turkey under-19 midfielder Oğuz Kağan Güçtekin rejected by Fenerbahçe, the club’s president has confirmed.

Kağan, 18, is known to have been scouted by City and has been compared to Chelsea star N’Golo Kanté, who he studies videos of to improve his game.

And club president Aziz Yildirim has publicly confirmed an offer arrived from the Etihad, but was turned down.

“Manchester City have made a €5million (£4.5million) offer for him.

“We turned down that offer.”

According to Milliyet and The Sun however, the issue may not be closed yet, with City expected to return with an improved offer for the defensive midfielder, who has already rejected a move to Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.

City must be wary of rival interest with North London giants Tottenham and Arsenal also expressing interest ahead of possible bids for the teenager.

Kağan comes from a modest background, his father a police officer and his mother a housewife, and he continues to live with his parents and brothers.

His lifestyle is focused solely on football and he is very disciplined in how he trains and prepares. He is able to use both feet and shows a lot of passion on the pitch. These characteristics all contribute to the positive dossiers City scouts have compiled on him, leading to a formal bid being made.
