EXCLUSIVE: South Korean club Ulsan Hyundai in talks with Manchester City to sign midfielder – City Watch
South Korean club Ulsan Hyundai are in talks with Manchester City over a deal for USA international Mix Diskerud, just five months after he joined the Premier League side on a free transfer, City Watch understands.
Diskerud, 27, was announced as a City player not by the club itself, but by his sponsor Umbro, and he penned a 4 ½ year contract.
Soon after, the 38-capped international returned on loan to IFK Göteborg in Sweden, where he had been playing until his New York City FC contract was terminated.
And now he is poised to join the K League with Ulsan Hyundai, who finished fifth last season and have been working to bring the experienced American in. A permanent move is possible, but a loan deal is rated as more likely.
Quizzed about the topic, IFK director Mats Gren said, “I do not want to comment on anything until it is decided.”
City paid no transfer fee for Diskerud, but according to reports from Sweden in May, they would hope to receive close to €1million were they to consider a sale at this point.
