EXCLUSIVE: Kevin De Bruyne suffers serious injury in Manchester City training – City Watch

City Watch

Manchester City will be without star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne for a number of months after he sustained a serious knee injury in training on Wednesday, City Watch understands.

The full extent of his injury has not yet been revealed to us, but was described by a source as very similar to the one he picked up against Everton in January 2016, a torn knee ligament injury which kept him out for over two months.

It is believed this injury will keep De Bruyne out for two to three months, sidelining him until at least October.

De Bruyne made 52 appearances in a marathon 2017-18 season for City before featuring heavily for Belgium at the World Cup. That led to him returning to training later than most of his teammates and he was used as a substitute in the 2-0 win over Arsenal at the weekend.

Now City will be without their Belgian star for a long period, but the emergence of Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden, along with the ever-present David Silva, will mean there is plenty of cover during his absence.
