Celtic make £6.8 million bid for Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts – report – City Watch

City Watch

Celtic have made their first attempt to sign on-loan Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts on a permanent deal, according to Celtic fan, author and journalist, Phil Mac Giolla Bhain.

His information, which comes from an ‘impeccably placed source’, is that Celtic spoke to Manchester City around two weeks ago about their view on 20-year-old Roberts and his future.

The Scottish giants have offered a £6.8 million fee that could rise to £8 million, with a 25% flat sell-on clause, entitling City to a quarter of his next transfer fee.

City paid an initial £2 million for Roberts in 2015, an amount that could rise to around £11 million in add-ons over time. Selling him now would probably represent a profit, but after an excellent loan spell in Scotland, Pep Guardiola and the club may view the England under-20 international as part of their plans.
