Celtic keen on signing England international from Manchester City, £12m valuation may be an issue – City Watch

England midfielder Fabian Delph is one of a host of players who have been made available for transfer this summer by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, as he looks to reshape his underperforming squad.

The likes of West Brom and Stoke City have already made inquiries, but according to the Daily Mail there is also interest from north of the border, with Scottish champions Celtic admirers of the 27-year-old.

Celtic would be able to offer Delph the prospect of Champions League football, which would give them that advantage over the likes of Stoke and West Brom, but City’s asking price of £12 million may prove prohibitive for a club that has a transfer record of £6 million – half of what City value Delph at.

Delph has made just 39 appearances in all competitions during his two seasons at the Etihad Stadium, but much of that has been down to a poor injury record, and when fit his performances haven’t been bad.

However, with Guardiola looking to overhaul his squad he open to offers for Delph – as long as someone hands over at least £12 million. The Blues belief Delph’s value is still high, despite his injuries, and want between £12 million and £15 million. Should anyone agree to invest that much in Delph, it would represent a profit on the £8 million spent on him.
