Benjamin Mendy set to join Manchester City claims leading Liverpool journalist – City Watch

City Watch

As we continue to wait for some official word on Benjamin Mendy joining Manchester City from Monaco, the evidence is mounting that a deal is close.

In the past week, TWO journalists have reported that Liverpool enquired about the 22-year-old French international, only to learn that he is heading for the Etihad.

The first was Dominic King of the Daily Mail on Thursday, but today James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo, considered one of the most reliable sources for Liverpool information, also says that Liverpool asked about Mendy but that he is ‘set to sign for Manchester City’.

In an exclusive last Tuesday, French news outlet le10sport stated that a deal worth €45 million (£39.6 million) was very close to being completed. They added that a deal wasn’t done yet but very, very close.

The player has been enjoying his post-season holidays but a deal is surely close now that will see the impressive left-back finally complete his move to Man City – will it be this coming week?
