Alexis Sanchez willing to accept less to join Man City than he’d earn at Arsenal, PSG or Juventus – report – City Watch
Alexis Sanchez is ready to make a financial sacrifice to fulfill his wish of reuniting with Pep Guardiola, Miguel Delaney of The Independent reports.
The 28-year-old is being offered a smaller wage to join Manchester City than he could earn at Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich or Juventus. Additionally, the £300,000-a-week that Arsenal are willing to offer him to renew his deal is higher than the financial package he would receive at City. City are known to pay lower basic wages under the leadership of chief executive Ferran Soriano, topped up by lucrative bonuses.
Alexis is so keen on a move to the Etihad, he is prepared to accept City’s offer – provided an agreement can be struck between the two clubs.
And therein lies the problem of City’s pursuit of Alexis – getting Arsenal to rethink their current position. At this point, unless he has a change of heart, Sanchez will almost certainly leave on a free transfer next summer if Arsenal choose not to cash in now.
Arsene Wenger remains ‘resolute in his absolute refusal’ to sell Alexis, meaning City have to try and convince him or Alexis himself needs to make his intentions very clear.
